Score Project, Leyton

Client: Summit Structures

Value: £1.8m

Work: Structural, civil and environmental engineering

The project comprised the construction of a clear span, single storey, sports hall adjacent to an existing retaining wall.

TRP Consulting was appointed to design appropriate foundation and drainage solutions for the sportshall. To prevent any surcharge on the existing retaining wall, a piled foundation solution for the sportshall was adopted that used bored piles of 300-400 mm diameter. Driven piles were avoided due to the proximity of the existing wall.

The existing tennis courts had a porous surface with storage capacity provided in the stone sub-base below. Attenuation was provided for the surface water discharge and a perimeter drainage system was designed to connect to an existing manhole at the eastern end of the site.
