In 2007 Doncaster Racecourse secured planning consent for a 154 bedroom hotel with 4 floors of apartments.
As part of the new hotel development a stand-alone hotel and residential buildings were to share the site. The brief was to develop a 150 bedroom hotel design with a flexible event space to seat up to 500 people, restaurant style, on a single floorplate at first floor level. The residential element to the proposal was separate from the hotel and intended to provide around 80 units.
The Doncaster Hilton Garden Inn opened to guests in September 2018.
