Building 430 Phase 1 Extension at the BAE Systems Samlesbury Site was designed to accommodate production lines for assembly and machining of the aft section of the F35 Joint strike Fighter. The extension provided 7780m2 of single storey assembly hall together with 4200m2 of 2 storey storage and ancillary accommodation.

The steel frame building incorporated an 81m clear span lattice roof structure and a engineered strong floor to accept point loads form the pulse line assemble system. The designs included 4.5m deep foundations for specialist 3 axis machine tools capable of achieving deformation limits of less than 0.005mm/m
