Will’s engineering career races ahead with professional recognition

Will’s engineering career races ahead with professional recognition.

A technician with TRP Consulting who has worked on projects including the creation of the new Belle Vue speedway stadium has been made a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).

Will Connolly, from Stockport, who is based at our offices in the Northern Quarter, has qualified as an engineering technician.

And he received his EngTech certificate from ICE, the globally-recognised professional association for civil engineers, at a presentation ceremony held at its London headquarters.

Will, 29, has been a member of our team since February 2014. Highlights of his career so far include working on the Belle Vue stadium project, home of the famous Aces speedway team, which was completed last year.

Will said: “I am especially proud of my work on this project as it was my 3D analysis that identified the potential to raise the site levels and save approximately £140,000.

“Not only was money saved in transport costs but the work meant a large amount of material stayed on site as opposed to vehicles coming to remove it, with an obvious impact on the environment and local traffic management.”

Will, who is from Edgeley and attended Avondale High School and Stockport College, added: “I really enjoy working as part of the TRP team on the wide variety of structural and civil engineering projects we are involved in delivering across the UK.

“It is great to work on large-scale, high-profile developments and I’m looking forward to further developing my career at TRP Consulting.”

Geoff Wilks, director at TRP Consulting, said: “Will has worked really hard to get this qualification and it is really well deserved. He is committed to developing in his career and his attitude is paying off and we are all really pleased for him.
