TRP Consulting has a sound record for engineering excellence and innovation.
We were appointed by BAE systems to investigate the development of specialist machine bases that are to be used for the manufacture of the new stealth strike fighter aircraft. These machines require super stiff foundations to allow them to operate to manufacturing and installation tolerances of 1/1000 of a millimetre.
The commission required a full understanding of the machines operating modes and permissible tolerances. Working closely with the Japanese, German and Swiss machine manufactures, we were able to construct a three dimensional finite element model to simulate the soil structure interaction.
This proactive research, investigation and design undertaken by TRP has lead to BAE reviewing their approach to foundation construction and machine supply.
