The site was redeveloped to provide the Belle Vue Sports Village and the works included the extension of the existing sports hall to provide new basketball courts.
The new main grandstand was constructed as a two storey traditional steel framed structure with precast concrete terrace units, cast insitu composite first floor and profiled metal deck roof. The grandstand provides seating and accommodation for around 1,850 guests at the racetrack. Access to the viewing terrace is provided by ground floor level vomitories that link the internal concourses to the terrace.
The new 6,000 capacity speedway stadium was constructed with a grandstand facility seating around 2,000 spectators and terracing to accommodate approximately 4,000 fans. The speedway comprises an oval track laid out around a centrally located multi use 3G sport pitch. Use of the track is supported by pits, maintenance yard and broadcasting compound. The track is surrounded by an acoustic screen to mitigate the acoustic impact on the houses adjacent to the venue. In addition, a new 3G rugby pitch has been constructed towards the eastern part of the site.
